Clearwater Bicentennial Committee

The Committee is active in planning projects, organizing events, and raising awareness of the historical significance of the Expedition through Idaho in 1805-06. Members include museums, tribes, historians, travel industry professionals, and other interested individuals.

Mission Statement:

Mission Statement: The Lewis and Clark Expedition of 1803 -1806 was a major event that shaped the boundaries and the future of America. It is the mission of the Clearwater-Snake Lewis and Clark Bicentennial Committee to commemorate that journey, rekindle its spirit of discovery, and acclaim the contribution and goodwill of the native peoples.

In cooperation with state, federal, local and tribal governments - and all interested individuals, organizations and communities - the Committee will promote educational programs, cultural sensitivity and harmony, and the sustaining stewardship of natural and historical resources along the route of the expedition.

It will also facilitate communications between organizations involved in regional bicentennial events, serve as the regional center for sharing information, and assist regional communities and tribes in developing tourism and other economic advantages with their participation in bicentennial activities.
